Polaris Bank cancer screening initiative offers free breast and prostate checks nationwide to boost early detection and community health

Polaris Bank Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to public health by launching a nationwide free breast cancer screening initiative to mark World Cancer Day, in partnership with the Care Organisation and Public Enlightenment.

The Polaris Bank cancer screening programme is designed to improve awareness, encourage early detection and expand access to preventive care, as the bank positions health as a critical pillar of social and economic wellbeing.

Under the initiative, Polaris Bank will provide free and comprehensive breast cancer screening for 100 women across Nigeria.

The lender is also supporting an ongoing free prostate cancer screening programme for 250 men aged 40 years and above, which it had earlier sponsored.

The prostate cancer screenings are being conducted at the Men’s Clinic located at 18 Commercial Avenue, Sabo, Yaba, Lagos, offering accessible and professional medical services for men seeking early diagnosis and preventive care.

Both initiatives align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 3 on good health and wellbeing, SDG 5 on gender equality through the prioritisation of women’s health, and SDG 17 on partnerships through collaboration with civil society organisations.

In addition to medical screenings, Polaris Bank will roll out educational materials, community engagement sessions and digital awareness campaigns focused on early detection, healthy lifestyle choices and the importance of regular medical check-ups.

Rasheed Bolarinwa, Group Head of Brand Management and Corporate Communications at Polaris Bank, said early detection remained one of the most powerful tools in reducing cancer-related deaths.

By removing financial barriers and bringing screening services closer to communities, Rasheed Bolarinwa said Polaris Bank aims to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to seek timely medical intervention.

The flagship breast cancer screening exercise is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the C.O.P.E Centre, 39B Adeniyi Jones Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos, between 10.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m.

The screenings will be conducted by trained health professionals and volunteers, who will also provide guidance on cancer prevention, self-examination and follow-up care.

Participation in the breast cancer screening programme is open to women who hold a Polaris Bank account and complete pre-registration, with selection based on early confirmed submissions.

While the programme is targeted at women, Polaris Bank urged men to support the health of their families by encouraging female relatives to register, while also taking advantage of the ongoing prostate cancer screening services.
