‘He’s not a police officer!’ Impostor, lawyer lead 12 thugs to beat woman over her land in Ibadan

Little did Prophetess Adebola Ojelabi, an elderly woman, expected that yesterday, February 8, 2021, would turn out to be her worst day.

Trouble started when over 12 thugs descended on Adebola in her house located at Aropoko, in Ibadan North West local government area. She was battered with a shovel, stole her phones, fifty thousand naira cash and the equipment of builders contracted in the building of her house.

It was reported by sources close to the victim that the thugs were commissioned by an alleged police officer, Olanrewaju Ojo (08033612750), and led by one alleged lawyer, Olakanmi Ogunyemi (08039135647), who lives at 208, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Oke Ado, Ibadan.

“This is the third time they would be coming this month alone,” Ojelabi said, “Ismaila Adisa Ajagungbale was the one that actually led the thugs and Ogunyemi brought them in his car.”

The lawyer was also accused of claiming that his client, Olanrewaju Ojo, has paid for her life.

Pundits wondered how a police officer, whose primary duty is to maintain law and order could be responsible for thuggery but was later countered by the police at Eleyele that the said Ojo was an impostor who was never a police officer.

As for Ogunyemi, this may not be the first time he has engaged in activities belittling the referred profession of a lawyer.

It would be recalled that in 2018, Ogunyemi was docked for contempt of court. The prosecutor then, Supol Fagboyinbo Abiodun, informed the court that the accused, Ogunyemi, committed the offence in November 15, 2016 till date, at the Magistrate Court 2 Osogbo.

He explained that being an accused person in charge NO MOS/583/2013, the accused intentionally disrespected the court by failing to appear in court when his case was mentioned since 2016.

The family of their recent victim, Adebola Ojelabi, appealed to the governor of Oyo State, Seyin Makinde and the state commissioner of police, Ngozi Onadeko, to look into the matter as the impostor police officer, Olanrewaju Ojo, and his lawyer, Olakanmi Ogunyemi, threatened to kill the woman when next they visit.
