The suspect was arrested at Relief Market on October 30 by operatives attached to the Okpoko Police Division, working alongside members of the Anambra Vigilante Group.
The police said the arrest followed intelligence gathering as part of efforts to tackle burglary, theft and other criminal activities through collaboration with community-based security groups.
In a statement issued on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said preliminary investigations indicated that Anyigo allegedly burgled the parish house and stole the recovered items.
The statement identified the affected property as St. Hilary Parish House, Owelle-Aja, Awada, Obosi, in Idemili North Local Government Area.
Items recovered from the suspect included an iPhone 16 Pro Max and cash amounting to ₦150,070.
According to the police, the suspect made statements during interrogation that could assist the ongoing investigation. The victim was also contacted and positively identified the recovered property.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Ama, commended the police operatives and members of the vigilante group for their response to the intelligence and cooperation that led to the arrest.
Ama reiterated the command’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with community-based security organisations and other stakeholders to combat crime, protect lives and property, and maintain public safety across the state.
