Northern Youths Council (NYC) has appealed to the National Taskforce (NATFORCE) to come to the rescue of Nigerians in the Northern region through its selfless security services before they are wiped out by insurgents.

The president of the Council, Abubakar Isah led zonal representatives and executives of the Council to pay a courtesy call on the Director – General ((DG) of the paramilitary organisation, Dr Osita Okereke recently in his office in Abuja the nation’s capital.

Handing over certificate of partnership between NYC and NATFORCE with the posture of Late Alhaji Ahmadu Bello, the president alleged that Bandits have taken over almost 20 out of 34 local government areas of his stste, Katsina, adding that the bandits kill mercilessly.

He informed that rural dwellers couldn’t go to farms again due to the fear of kidnappers, nust as he believed that NATFORCE could have handled such insurgency perfectly, if the parrastatal were properly incorporated as one of the security outfits in Nigeria. He therefore added that its officers and men would do the needful in the rurals areas, having been adequately trained.

The president informed that the Council was formed to promote peaceful coexistence among the Northern ethnic groups, as well as collaborate with other youth organizations across the country.

“We have been following your antecedents and the good works you have been doing in Nigeria. This is the time to partner with NATFORCE, so as rescue Northerners from insecurity. From now, we shall go into consistent advocacy for National Assembly to pass the NATFORCE Bill, as well as agitate that Mr President signs it into law soonest.”

The president said tbe issue of insecurity started long ago in the region, as a result of consistent neglect of the fundermental issues that should drive a society. “A situation whereby you treat education and similar things with neglect in a thickly populated area, things will relatively result into disability,” he stated.

Advocating against Almajiri problems in the north, Abubakar Isah said that it was the Almajiri problem that gave birth to the menace of Boko Haram insurgency, as well as that of Bandits and Kidnappers in the villages in the region.

“Their parents gave birth to them, sent them to school and they became beggers and at the end of the day, when they couldn’t properly get the necessary education, they went to villages and due to many terrorist activities in the Lybian Sahara desert, they joined them and brought it home which is now causing problems here and there in Nigeria,” the president informed.

In a welcome adress, the DG hailed them for moving against insecurity in the region. He however advised them to call the president of Arewa Youths to order, accusing him of making hate speech, which if not stopped, according to him is capable of promoting disunity in Nigeria. Okereke admitted that their forefathers made mistake in the past, saying their failure to fulfill their part of the agreement caused the war.

Reiterating the importance of unity of the country, the DG described agitation for secession by MASSOB, IPOB and other similar organizations in Nigeria as laughable, saying Nigeria has outgrown such.

He said that NATFORCE was for Nigeria, even as he informed that the paramilitary organisation was inaugutrsted by the Federal Ministry of Finance during the regime of Late President Musa Ya’Adua. Osita Omereke informed that after their inauguration, they apprehended a trailer load of arms and handed it over to the Commissioner of Police in Akure. He spoke at length on the need for all hands to be on deck toward promoting unity and peace in the country, saying, “our doors are open for anyone who comes for promotion of peace and unity in Nigeria.”
