Despite controlling possession for long stretches, the visitors struggled to add to their lead before half-time, with Kairat goalkeeper Sherkhan Kalmurza producing excellent saves to deny Rodrygo twice and parry away a fierce long-range strike from Jude Bellingham in stoppage time.
The breakthrough came after the interval. Mbappé doubled the advantage with a deft lob in the 56th minute and completed his hat-trick on 75 minutes, putting the contest beyond doubt.
Brahim Díaz then capped the rout in stoppage time, slotting home from a Gonzalo García assist to make it 5-0.
Real’s attacking depth was evident throughout, as they struck the woodwork on multiple occasions and carved out a flurry of chances against a weary Kairat defence.
With the emphatic result, Real Madrid demolished Kairat to claim their second successive group-stage victory.
