Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has disclosed that he ended a previous romantic relationship because it became emotionally draining and increasingly difficult to manage.

The award-winning artiste made the revelation during an interview with YouTuber Korty EO, where he reflected on his personal life and the challenges he faced while balancing fame and relationships.
Rema said the relationship had many positive moments and was initially fulfilling, but gradually became complicated due to what he described as pressure and manipulation.
According to the singer, the demands of his public life already place significant pressure on him, making emotional peace at home especially important.
However, he said the relationship failed to provide the comfort and relief he expected outside of his professional responsibilities.
“My romantic relationship was beautiful but a little quite manipulative. So much pressure. Knowing the world puts so much pressure on me but coming back home is where you want to feel relieved but when you come back home and you are getting more pressure, it’s a different story. For now, I’m done,” he said.
The singer explained that the situation eventually became unsustainable, prompting him to walk away from the relationship.
Although he spoke candidly about the experience, Rema did not reveal the identity of the former girlfriend or provide further details about when the relationship ended.
