Papa Ajasco Actor Rebrands

Papa Ajasco rebrands Bondu Alaska as actor Abiodun Ayoyinka dumps old identity amid dispute over character rights and industry disagreement

Veteran Nigerian actor Abiodun Ayoyinka announced a dramatic career shift after revealing that he has officially rebranded himself as “Bondu Alaska,” following a reported disagreement over the use of the iconic character Papa Ajasco and his association with Wale Adenuga Productions.

The actor, widely recognised for his long-running role as Papa Ajasco in the popular television comedy series, made the announcement in a video shared on Instagram, where he introduced his new stage identity with confidence and emotional resolve.

In the recording, Abiodun Ayoyinka declared his new name publicly, stating that he was beginning a fresh chapter in his professional life. He expressed gratitude to fans for their continued support and promised not to disappoint them as he moved forward under his new identity.

The rebrand follows reports of financial strain and a disagreement between the actor and the production company over the use and ownership of the Papa Ajasco character brand, though official terms of the dispute have not been publicly detailed.

The Papa Ajasco rebrands Bondu Alaska development has triggered mixed reactions from fans, many of whom have expressed difficulty separating the actor from the iconic role that defined his career for decades.

In contrast, the production company has disputed claims of financial hardship, stating that the actor benefited from long-term involvement in the series and was not restricted from pursuing other professional opportunities.

Despite the controversy, the actor has already updated his social media presence to reflect his new identity, signalling a firm commitment to his rebranding effort.

Industry observers say the development highlights ongoing tensions around creative ownership, character branding, and long-term royalties in Nigeria’s entertainment sector.

As reactions continue, fans remain divided between nostalgia for the “Papa Ajasco” legacy and curiosity about the actor’s new direction as Bondu Alaska.
