The gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has mourned the passing of Simon Maduekwe, who he alleged was assaulted by thugs affiliated to All Progressives Congress during March 18 election.
Maduekwe, a native of Nnewi North LGA in Anambra State, allegedly received a fatal damage to his head but gave up the ghost at Oguntolu Medical Centre, where he was rushed to.

“Today, we lay to rest Mr Maduekwe, who died on the 18th March 2023, right in front of his house at the Bajulaye compound Shomolu when armed APC thugs Assaulted him with fatal damage to the back of his head. He was rushed to Oguntolu Medical Center where he was confirmed dead.
“Until his death, he was a staunch member of LP, who believed that a new Nigeria was possible.
“The labour party have come together to support his family and will continue to do so. May his fearless soul rest in perfect peace. #ourlagos,” Rhodes-Vivour wrote.
Late politician, aged 68, would be buried today according to the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate.
