Rivers Police Arrest: Operatives nab 23-year-old lover who killed Confidence Sunny with a machete and fled to Edo State after the crime
Rivers Police Arrest of a 23-year-old man, Kingsley Chinamezu, has brought relief to the family of late Confidence Konebari Sunny, who was brutally killed in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The suspect, nicknamed Power Sharp, allegedly macheted his 44-year-old lover, Confidence, to death on July 20, 2025, in the Umuebule community.
After the crime, he fled to Edo State, where he reportedly issued fresh threats to the victim’s family, boasting that nothing would happen to him.
Confirming the arrest, spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit traced the suspect to his hideout in Egbeta village, Edo State, and apprehended him on Friday, August 15.
She described the breakthrough as a significant step in the fight against violent crimes.
“Following a formal complaint by the victim’s family, operatives of the command, utilising technical intelligence, successfully arrested the suspect, who later confessed to the crime,” the statement noted.
Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, praised the operatives for their swift action, stressing that the command remains determined to make the state uninhabitable for criminals.
He warned perpetrators of violent crimes to desist or face the full wrath of the law.
Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to gather more evidence and determine whether the suspect has been involved in other criminal acts. He will be prosecuted once investigations are concluded.
