Rotary Club of Ikeja, a leading club in Rotary International District 9111, has organised a Rotary Club Ikeja leadership training programme for 60 Interactors drawn from five Interact Clubs, reinforcing its commitment to youth development.
The one-day event, held at Ikeja Junior High School on Muis Banire Road, brought together student leaders for an immersive experience focused on leadership, service and personal growth.

Participants were guided through practical sessions on Rotary principles, effective club management, project planning and execution, teamwork, and responsible participation.
The initiative aimed to equip the Interactors with the confidence and capability to contribute meaningfully within their schools, clubs and wider communities, reflecting Rotary’s broader mission of service above self.
Speaking at the event, Vice President of the club, Rotarian Osato Osawaye, urged the young participants to sustain their passion for leadership.
“Keep your fire in the belly ignited from a young age and through every stage of life,” Rotarian Osato Osawaye said, emphasising that purpose and ambition are essential for long-term impact.
Youth Service Chair, Rotarian Titi Akintan, encouraged the Interactors to embrace leadership as a progressive journey.
Rotarian Titi Akintan noted that moving from passive membership to active participation and ultimately becoming change-makers is key to creating lasting value in society.
Themed “Sharing Knowledge, Igniting Purpose and Shaping Values,” the programme aligned with Rotary’s Youth Service goals and supported its focus areas, including Basic Education and Literacy as well as Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention.
The training also highlighted the importance of collaboration and civic responsibility among young people.
Notable attendees included District 9112 Chair for New Club Development, Rotarian Bukunola Solle-Balogun, District 9111 Interact Chair, Rotarian Emeka Metus, Rotaractor Anjorin Olorunju and Rotarian Bola Bido, whose presence added depth and mentorship to the sessions.
The Rotary Club Ikeja leadership training builds on a long-standing tradition within Rotary of nurturing young leaders through Interact clubs, which serve as entry points for youth engagement in community service and leadership development.
Across Nigeria, Interact programmes have continued to play a pivotal role in shaping socially responsible young citizens.

The programme concluded with renewed enthusiasm among participants, many of whom expressed readiness to apply their new skills in driving impactful projects within their respective clubs and communities.
