Ten members of PE Victor Ojelabi’s Watch have emerged as leaders following an electronic election conducted on Saturday, August 29, 2026, as part of the RYLA Next leadership development programme.
The election, which commenced at 12:00 a.m. and closed at 8:00 a.m., provided eligible members of the Watch with an opportunity to elect representatives for key leadership positions. Voting was conducted through the RYLA Next portal, with the system automatically counting votes and determining the winners at the close of the exercise.
Shoboyede Barakah Kanyinsola emerged as the Watch Coordinator, while Azeezat Oluwapelumi Ibikunle was elected Deputy Watch Coordinator
Other members elected into leadership positions are Rabiu Aishat Oyindamola, Secretary; Emmanuel Ayomide Daniel, Learning and Mentorship Lead; Assumpta Chinechrem Igboanugo, Career and Opportunities Lead; Olabaiye Oluwanifemi David, Membership and Welfare Lead; Udoh Wisdom Odera, Digital and Technology Lead; Omozokpea Blessing Efe, Projects and Community Impact Lead; Hassan Omotolani, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Lead; and Akinluyi Atinuke Ajisola, Communications and Public Image Lead.
The election followed an earlier directive to members seeking elective positions to ensure that their profiles on the RYLA Next portal were at least 95 per cent complete. Members were also advised to review the responsibilities attached to each office and consider the capacity and commitment of candidates before voting.
Under the structure, elected officers will serve a six-month tenure, during which their participation, leadership performance, and impact will be monitored. Their performance will also form part of the programme’s reward and recognition system.
The Watch Sponsor, PE Victor Ojelabi, described the leadership structure as an opportunity for members to demonstrate their ability to lead themselves, work together, and deliver results.
With the election concluded, attention now shifts to the newly elected leaders, who are expected to translate their mandates into meaningful action and contribute to building a more active, connected, and impactful watch.
The election may have ended, but the real test of leadership begins now.
