Nigerian Air Force conducts Sambisa terrorist strike, killing scores of insurgents and dismantling key terrorist infrastructure

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reported killing scores of terrorists following a precision air strike on a high-profile commander’s hideout in Sambisa, Borno State.

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF spokesperson, confirmed that the intelligence-driven mission, conducted under the Joint Task Force of Operation Hadin Kai, targeted the Yuwe general area of the Sambisa axis on 28 February 2026.

The operation followed confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) activities, which identified structures serving as terrorists’ hideouts and logistics warehouses.

Acting with overwhelming force, the NAF successfully engaged the validated targets, dismantling critical terrorist infrastructure.

Post-strike assessments, corroborated by credible intelligence sources, confirmed the neutralisation of several high-value operatives, including senior commanders coordinating hostile activities in the region.

“The strikes significantly disrupted the terrorists’ command-and-control architecture and degraded their logistics network, further constraining their operational capabilities,” Ejodame said.

The Nigerian Air Force has maintained continuous ISR coverage over the Sambisa axis to identify and engage additional verified targets, applying relentless pressure on fleeing and regrouping elements.

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, praised the professionalism and combat efficiency of the aircrew and supporting personnel. He reaffirmed the NAF’s commitment to denying terrorists any sanctuary in Nigeria.

“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to project decisive air power in close synergy with ground forces until every identified terrorist enclave is dismantled,” Aneke said.
