The killing of Samuel Ngobe in Rivers State: gunmen storm an Ebubu hotel and shoot the politician dead as police investigate a suspected assassination
Samuel Obe Ngobe, a young politician and community mobiliser in Ebubu, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria, was killed after gunmen suspected to be assassins invaded a hotel owned by him and carried out a deadly attack that has unsettled residents of the community.

Samuel Ngobe killing in Rivers State occurred when two masked attackers arrived on a motorbike, entered the hotel premises, and proceeded directly to Samuel Obe Ngobe before opening fire and shooting him dead, according to details gathered from local sources.
The assailants reportedly carted away mobile phones belonging to hotel staff shortly after the shooting, an action believed to have been taken to delay or prevent an immediate alarm being raised within the area.
Residents described the attack as swift, targeted and coordinated, heightening concerns over rising insecurity in parts of Eleme Local Government Area. Ngobe was known locally for his involvement in youth engagement and grassroots political activities.
The Rivers State Police Command confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, who stated that investigations had commenced into the killing.
According to the police, efforts are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack, while no arrests have yet been made in connection with the incident.
