Segun Ogunwuyi, Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has resigned from his position with immediate effect, according to a resignation letter dated Monday, 12 October 2026.
Ogunwuyi, a former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives, announced his departure in a letter addressed to Makinde, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve the state.

His resignation adds to the growing number of aides who have left the Oyo State Government in the past two months, although the circumstances surrounding the latest departure were not disclosed in the report published by PUNCH.
In his letter, Ogunwuyi said his decision took effect from the date of the correspondence.
“I respectfully write to resign my appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, with effect from today, 12th October, 2026,” he wrote.
He described his time in government as an honour and praised the administration’s efforts to advance the state’s development.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” Ogunwuyi said.
The former chief of staff also expressed pride in the work undertaken by the administration during his time in office, while voicing confidence in the state’s continued progress.
“I remain immensely proud of what we have collectively accomplished in advancing the growth, development and prosperity of our dear State,” the letter stated.
Ogunwuyi concluded by thanking the governor for the opportunity to serve and reaffirming his loyalty to Oyo State and Nigeria.
His departure comes amid a series of resignations by political appointees in Makinde’s administration over the past two months.
However, the available report did not establish whether the departures were connected or whether Ogunwuyi’s resignation was linked to any political disagreement.
Before his appointment as chief of staff, Ogunwuyi had served in elective office at both state and federal levels, giving him experience in legislative affairs and public administration.
As Chief of Staff, he occupied a key position within the governor’s administration, supporting coordination between the governor’s office and other parts of the state government.
The resignation raises questions about the next phase of the administration’s staffing arrangements, although no successor was identified in the report.

Neither a specific reason for Ogunwuyi’s departure nor further details about the wider pattern of resignations were provided in the information available at the time of publication.
