Senator Otunba Engr. ‘Gbenga Daniel has met with officials from the DAWN Commission at his Asoludero residence on Monday, August 11, 2023.
The visit comes after Senator Daniel sponsored the Southwest Development Commission (Establishment) Bill, which was presented for first reading at the Senate plenary on August 1, 2023.
The DAWN Commission delegation, led by Director General Mr Sola Oyeleye, met with Senator Daniel to discuss the proposed bill and its potential impact on the development of the southwestern part of the country.
Note that if established, the Commission would be responsible for developing critical infrastructure in the region.
The DAWN Commission, also known as the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria Commission, has long been advocating for a unified effort to develop the southwest.
By championing the cause for regional development, the commission aims to bring about economic growth and improved living conditions for residents.
During the meeting, Senator Daniel and the DAWN Commission officials discussed the objectives and potential challenges of the proposed Southwest Development Commission.
They also explored strategies to ensure the smooth implementation of the bill and its alignment with existing development initiatives in the region.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to ongoing collaboration between Senator Daniel and the DAWN Commission as they work together to advance the Southwest Development Commission (Establishment) Bill through the legislative process.
