Senator Husain mourns Buhari, describing his death as a monumental loss to Nigeria and urging unity in honour of his national legacy
A former senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, Senator Mudashiru Oyetunde Husain, has joined national leaders and citizens in paying tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his passing as a monumental loss to Nigeria, Africa, and the global democratic community.

In a solemn statement released on Friday, Senator Husain mourns Buhari and praised the late leader’s steadfast dedication to national service.
Reflecting on Buhari’s enduring legacy, he highlighted the former president’s patriotism, anti-corruption crusade, and infrastructural vision.
“President Muhammadu Buhari was a statesman who dedicated his entire life to the service of our great nation,” Senator Husain said.
“He championed the fight against corruption, invested in infrastructure renewal, and upheld democratic values through difficult times.”
Senator Husain, who also served as a Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission, stated that Buhari’s leadership style was marked by discipline, sincerity of purpose, and unshakable loyalty to the country’s unity and progress.
He stressed that Buhari’s legacy transcends politics, describing him as a figure who stood firm in turbulent times and led with a vision rooted in integrity.
“Nigerians, particularly the people of Osun State, join millions across the country and around the world in mourning a man whose life was a reference point in public service and accountability,” he added.
Offering his condolences to the Buhari family, the people of Katsina State, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Husain urged Nigerians to uphold the ideals the late President represented.
“As Senator Husain mourns Buhari, he calls on all Nigerians to honour the memory of this extraordinary leader by committing themselves to peace, unity, and national progress,” the statement read.
He concluded his tribute with prayers for the late president’s eternal rest: “May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus.”

President Buhari, who served as Nigeria’s Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023, is remembered for his impact on governance, anti-corruption, and national security.
