Nigeria’s billionaire businessmen, Femi Otedola has called out those who are yet to fulfill their pledges to the COVID-19 relief fund.

Recall that after Nigeria confirmed its first case of COVID-19, many wealthy Nigerians and the private sector made donations publicly to assist the government towards the fight of the pandemic.

The account was set up at the Central Bank of Nigeria under the Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19.

Alongside a list of Nigerians who were yet to fulfill their pledges, Otedola took to his Instagram page asking them to pay up as COVID-19 cases rise in Nigeria.

As at Monday, the National Center for Disease and Control, NCDC, confirmed six new cases bringing the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 to 238 in Nigeria.

Otedola wrote: “Not yet redeemed! Let our word be our bond, and redeem pledges to the Coalition Against Covid-19. The Central Bank of Nigeria at the close of business on Friday, April 3, 2020, listed a few donors yet to redeem their pledges.

“I encourage them to fast-track this intervention to save lives during this pandemic. Every life counts.

“Matching words with action is the hallmark of Integrity, hence my fufillment of my 1Billion Naira Donation which has been published above by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

“My word is my bond and this has always been the bedrock on which my life is based. I salute the other contributors listed above who have honoured their pledge and call on those who are yet to fulfill their own pledges to this noble cause that will undoubtedly save lives.”
