Nigeria’s tertiary institutions are becoming vibrant stages for youth culture as Soundcity On Tour 2026, powered by BIGI and Fearless Energy Drink, takes live music, student talent and entertainment to 20 campuses across the country.

The tour, which has travelled from Lagos to Ibadan and is now heading to Port Harcourt, is bringing established Nigerian artistes together with emerging performers in a programme designed around music, discovery and campus entertainment.

One of the tour’s biggest gatherings so far came at the University of Lagos, where more than 5,000 students turned out despite heavy rainfall.

The Lagos event featured performances from Qing Madi, Falz, Joeboy, Wande Coal and Mr P of P-Square, giving students an opportunity to see some of Nigeria’s established musical names perform on their campus.

The event also created room for the next generation of performers.

More than 25 emerging artistes took to the Soundcity stage, turning the concert into a showcase of student and grassroots musical talent as much as a headline performance.

The momentum continued at the University of Ibadan, where Niniola, Qing Madi, Kunmie, Kodie and Priesst performed alongside rising campus artistes.

For the organisers, the emphasis extends beyond bringing popular musicians to university grounds. The tour is also intended to provide a platform for discovering performers whose careers could develop beyond the campus circuit.

“Every campus has its own identity, sound and community of emerging stars. This tour allows us to discover and celebrate the unique creativity across Nigeria,” said Adedeji Adeniji, Executive Producer of Soundcity On Tour and Chief Operating Officer of Group8 Limited.

That approach reflects the changing role of Nigerian campuses within the country’s entertainment ecosystem.

Universities and other tertiary institutions have increasingly become spaces where music trends, fashion, social movements and new creative voices gain momentum.

The partnership with BIGI and Fearless adds a strong youth-focused commercial dimension to the tour, while allowing the brands to engage directly with students through entertainment and interactive activities.

Since its expansion, Soundcity On Tour has grown considerably. The tour has increased from 10 campuses in 2023 to 20 tertiary institutions in 2026, doubling its reach in three years.

That expansion suggests a growing appetite for large-scale entertainment experiences within Nigeria’s student communities, while giving organisers a wider platform to identify and celebrate emerging talent.

The tour’s campus format also gives each location an opportunity to develop its own character.

Rather than presenting an identical experience at every stop, the organisers are positioning local students and emerging artistes as part of the attraction.

For the performers, the platform offers exposure to large student audiences.

For established artistes, it provides an opportunity to connect with one of the country’s most influential youth demographics in an energetic and informal setting.

With Lagos and Ibadan already setting the pace, attention now turns to the University of Port Harcourt, the next stop on the 2026 tour.

As Soundcity On Tour continues its journey across Nigeria, its growing footprint is positioning the event as more than a conventional campus concert.

It is becoming a lively meeting point for established music, emerging talent, student culture and youth-focused brands.
