Sule Lamido backs Goodluck Jonathan as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) best option for the 2027 presidential election, urging the party to actively woo the former president back into its fold.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the former Jigawa State governor described Jonathan as an experienced leader who understands governance, works well with others, and is unmatched by any current PDP member from the South.
“I don’t see a better alternative than Jonathan if he comes to the PDP,” Lamido said, adding that Nigerians would rally behind him.
Lamido’s endorsement comes amid speculation of Jonathan’s political comeback and internal party turmoil following former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s resignation, which has triggered a wave of defections.

Jonathan has yet to declare his intentions for 2027, but reports of behind-the-scenes lobbying continue to fuel speculation ahead of the polls.
