However, in a swift reaction, the public relation officer of the school, Olalekan Olagunju, while confirming the incident, affirmed that the school will not condone any form of lawlessness.

“The attention of the University Management has been drawn to the scuffle that happened today, Monday 14th November, 2022 between a student and two porters in the male hostel. The general public is hereby assured that the university management is already addressing the situation.

“For avoidance of doubt, the student, Oladipupo David, is well. The two porters concerned have been immediately placed on indefinite suspension from the university.

“Please be assured that management will not condone any act of lawlessness on campus.

“The university community is therefore enjoined to go about their normal businesses and be law-abiding,” Olagunju said.

Many Nigerians were of the opinion that the assailants should not only be suspended but also handed over to the police for prosecution. While some suggested that the victim should sue the school itself and seek damages.

“They need to be arrested asap so he can’t come and take his things again? Them never born person make he try this with me sha i trust my parent. But I which kind school be this sef,” Anne, with a Twitter handle @dream_girl07, opined.

Ifeoluwa Osho wrote: The boy don hammer. Just sue the school.
