A kidnap victim abducted from the Dansadau community in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State escaped from captivity during a fierce gun battle between security operatives and armed bandits, security sources confirmed on Thursday.

Zamfara abduction victim escapes captivity occurred during a security operation in the Bukuyum and Anka axis, areas that have experienced repeated attacks and abductions in recent months.
According to information shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the victim had been taken to a bandit hideout after being kidnapped from Dansadau before security forces launched an operation targeting criminal elements in the region.
During the operation, security personnel engaged the bandits in an intense exchange of gunfire, creating confusion within the camp.
Amid the confrontation, the victim and a friend reportedly seized the opportunity to flee from captivity.
Security sources said both individuals successfully escaped and are now safe.

Authorities described the escape as a significant development during the operation, although efforts to apprehend the fleeing criminals remain ongoing.
Security officials have since initiated steps to reunite the rescued victim with family members.
According to sources, the Divisional Police Officer in Dansadau has been contacted to assist in locating the victims’ relatives and facilitating their safe return home.
