Thomas Müller backs Olise Ballon d’Or chances, praising his creativity and edge over Harry Kane after a standout Bayern season

Bayern Munich forward Thomas Müller, a German football legend, publicly endorsed teammate Michael Olise as a leading contender for the Ballon d’Or award, suggesting that the French winger’s creative brilliance places him ahead of striker Harry Kane in the global race for football’s most prestigious individual prize.

The Thomas Müller backs Olise Ballon d’Or remarks have sparked widespread discussion across European football, particularly as Müller highlighted the contrasting styles of the two Bayern Munich attackers in assessing their respective chances.

Müller praised Harry Kane for his exceptional finishing ability and all-round attacking strength, describing him as “the best striker” currently operating in the game. However, he stressed that Kane’s style, while highly effective, lacks the individual dribbling artistry often favoured in Ballon d’Or voting criteria.

By contrast, Müller positioned Michael Olise as a more “artistic” footballer, emphasising his flair, creativity and ability to unlock defences with technical ease. The German veteran described Olise’s style as “dance-like” and instinctive, suggesting that such qualities often resonate strongly with voters when determining the world’s best player.

The Thomas Müller backs Olise Ballon d’Or comments come after an outstanding season in which Olise registered 15 goals and 19 assists, playing a key role in Bayern Munich securing the Bundesliga title for a second consecutive year.

Müller described Olise as a “performer” who consistently delivers in high-pressure moments, underlining his belief that the winger’s unique technical profile gives him a distinct advantage in individual awards debates.

The remarks are likely to intensify the growing conversation around Bayern Munich’s attacking hierarchy, as both Olise and Kane continue to play decisive roles for the German champions on the domestic and European stage
