President Tinubu has approved Tinubu ambassador postings to the US, UK, France and Turkey from nominees confirmed by the Senate

President Bola Tinubu has approved Tinubu ambassador postings for four diplomat-designates to key global destinations, including France, the United States, the United Kingdom and Turkey.

The approval was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Onanuga said the President approved the deployment of four envoys from the list of 68 ambassadorial nominees confirmed by the Senate in December.

According to the statement, Ambassador Ayodele Oke has been posted to France, while Colonel Lateef Are will serve as Nigeria’s ambassador to the United States.

The President also approved the appointment of Ambassador Amin Dalhatu as high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom. Dalhatu previously served as Nigeria’s ambassador to South Korea.

In addition, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, a former governor of Kebbi State, has been appointed ambassador-designate to Turkey.

Onanuga noted that the posting to Turkey is strategic, as President Tinubu is scheduled to undertake a state visit to the country next week, describing the move as timely and significant.

He explained that the Tinubu ambassador postings were formally communicated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with instructions to notify the host countries in line with established diplomatic procedures.

“These postings are drawn from the list of ambassadorial nominees earlier screened and confirmed by the National Assembly,” the presidential spokesman said.

The Senate, in December 2025, confirmed a total of 64 ambassadorial nominees forwarded by the President after adopting a report by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, which found all nominees suitable for appointment.

The confirmation included both career and non-career diplomats, bringing the total number of approved envoys to 67 following earlier confirmations.

Among those previously cleared were former Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau, former presidential aide Ita Enang, former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, and former governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.

In total, the Senate confirmed 34 career ambassadors and high commissioners, alongside 30 non-career ambassadors and high commissioners, forming the pool from which the latest Tinubu ambassador postings were made.
