The directive was disclosed on Saturday by Hope Uzodinma, Governor of Imo State and Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, in a statement explaining the humanitarian initiative.
Hope Uzodinma said the Tinubu rice distribution Ramadan Lent initiative is intended to strengthen national unity while demonstrating compassion during a period of deep spiritual significance for both Muslims and Christians.
According to the statement, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will coordinate the distribution through their nationwide grassroots network to ensure that families across the country benefit from the intervention during the fasting season.
“Ramadan and Lent are seasons that remind us of sacrifice, charity and care for one another,” Hope Uzodinma said.
“Through this distribution, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will ensure that families across Nigeria feel the spirit of togetherness during this sacred period.”
Hope Uzodinma added that the directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reflects the administration’s commitment to unity and compassion across religious communities.
The Tinubu rice distribution Ramadan Lent programme will reach both Christian and Muslim communities nationwide, highlighting the government’s emphasis on inclusivity and national cohesion.
Officials said the intervention follows a similar initiative during the Christmas season, when rice was distributed to support Nigerians celebrating the festive period.
Government supporters say the move forms part of broader efforts by the administration to assist vulnerable households during key religious and cultural observances.
The initiative is expected to be carried out in collaboration with local coordinators and community networks affiliated with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors across the country.
