Popular Nigerian songstress Tiwa Savage has disclosed that renowned rapper Olamide turned down a N100 million fee for a verse in her song.
Tiwa shared the news on her Instagram page on Wednesday, highlighting Olamide’s generosity and understanding of the challenges female artists face in the music industry.
Tiwa explained that she initially contacted Olamide’s management, anticipating that he would want to contribute to the song for free if approached directly.
His management team billed her N100 million for the collaboration. However, upon learning that Tiwa was the artist, Olamide refused the payment.
“I was talking to his management, I did not want to talk to him directly because he would want to do it for free. I was willing to pay, and his team charged me N100m. When Olamide asked them who the artist was, he just said NO. He won’t take it,” Tiwa recounted.
She further expressed her gratitude for Olamide’s supportive and caring nature, comparing their relationship to that of siblings.
“He said I’m his sister and he knows how difficult it is for a woman to make it in the industry. And guess what? He gave the verse for free. Good people exist and Baddo is one,” she said.
