Tunde Diya foundation rolls out scholarship awards for WASSCE students

In its continuation to contribute to the educational development in the state, “The Yellow Initiative” has announced scholarship awards and other incentives to best graduating students of selected secondary Schools in Odogbolu area and its environs in Ogun state.

Dr. Tunde Diya, founder of Doctor Tunde Diya Foundation (DTDF) made this announcement at the valedictory service organized by the school of the outgoing SS3 students of the school. The event which takes place at the School Hall within the school premises, had as its theme, “My Life And The Struggle Ahead”.

Represented by the Secretary of the foundation, Miss Teniola Avoseh, Dr. Diya charged the graduands to engage in Critical thinking. In his words, “ability to think deeply is key in ensuring your future as the world today allows only those who can think beyond the regular to succeed.” Noting that they should embrace technology as recent a digital world needs digital skills. He therefore encouraged them to focus on technology. “The Oladipo Diya library and Resource center is equipped with ICT equipments for you to keep learning digital skills from programming, graphic design and digital marketing. These tools will help in building your future while transforming your lives and the ones of others.” He said.

Announcing the foundation’s support to the developmental projects in the school with the sum of N100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira) Only.

Dr. Diya who stated that the vision to upgrade the education standard across Odogbolu Local Government is key,
used the occasion to inform participating students in The Yellow Initiative Special Education Program, where almost 200 students drawn from different secondary Schools i.e Odogbolu Grammar School, Valiant College, Federal Government College Odogbolu, Comprehensive High School and Mayflower School, Anglican Secondary School, Igan-Ipabi, IjebuOde and others from Ikenne communities were specially trained in the build up to the just concluded WASSCE of the Doctor Tunde Diya Foundation to reward some categories of best students with scholarships and other cash donations.

“To this end, three categories of winners shall emerge and be extended a token amount so as to encourage others. First:
A student with 5 distinctions (including English and Maths) will be given Free JAMB forms and scholarship to any Government University or College of Education in Ogun State. While student with 3 Distinctions and 3 credit (including English and Maths) will be given a sum of N5,000 (Five Thousand Naira) only and free JAMB form. Also, a student that scored 2 Distinctions and 4 credits will receive a sum of N5,000 Only”, the statements reads.

Earlier, the guest speaker Captain Sunny Adegbuyi, President, Odogbolu Community Development Council, highlighted the challenges awaiting the graduating students but assured them that with hardwork, dedication and commitments, they will fulfill their future dreams.

Other dignitaries at the event include the coordinator of DTDF, Mr. Damola Fayemi, High Chief Ogunaike Olugbon, Mrs K A Alli, V.P Multilateral Grammar School, Okun-Owa. PTA representatives, among several others.
