Ubi Franklin court marriage fear explained as he addresses myths about property sharing, alimony and legal rights in relationships

Talent manager Ubi Franklin on Wednesday in Lagos explained what he described as a widespread Ubi Franklin court marriage fear, outlining reasons many men are hesitant about legal unions.

In a post shared on X, Ubi Franklin said a common concern among men is the belief that assets are automatically divided equally in the event of a divorce.

He clarified that such assumptions are inaccurate, noting that property distribution is not strictly based on a fixed 50–50 rule under the law.

According to Ubi Franklin, even in customary marriages, courts may award alimony if one party meets specific legal conditions, emphasising that financial obligations are not exclusive to formal court unions.

He further highlighted concerns around gifts exchanged in relationships, stating that items given to a partner are generally not recoverable after separation unless they were provided under clearly defined conditions.

Ubi Franklin advised that individuals should consider documenting ownership or attaching conditions when giving significant gifts, particularly in long term relationships.

The comments have sparked discussion online, as debates around marriage structures, legal rights and financial responsibilities continue to generate public interest.

Ubi Franklin’s remarks add to ongoing conversations about relationships in Nigeria, where legal awareness around marriage and divorce remains varied.
