In a development that has captured attention across Abia State, married man Ifeanyichukwu Bright Onuoha was arrested yesterday in Umuahia by detectives from the Abia State Police Command.
His former girlfriend, identified as Miss Ifeoma J, reported him for alleged blackmail, threats, and sharing her intimate photographs with a man who intended to marry her.

Onuoha, reportedly 28, had concealed his marital status when he began a romantic relationship with Ifeoma in 2025. The pair parted ways early in 2026 after she discovered he was married.
According to sources close to the investigation, tensions escalated when Onuoha allegedly started threatening her and circulating private images in an attempt to sabotage her new relationship.
The victim petitioned the police, leading to Onuoha’s arrest at a hotel in Umuahia by operatives attached to the State Intelligence Bureau.
Witnesses described a tense scene as he resisted, reportedly mistaking the officers for kidnappers before being taken into custody. Video footage circulating on social media shows men restraining a younger man amid a crowd in a parking area, consistent with accounts of the arrest.
A source familiar with the matter quoted the victim as saying, “I trusted him completely, only to find out he was using my private moments to destroy my future.” Onuoha has not yet issued a public statement, though some acquaintances described him as outspoken and suggested this was not entirely out of character.
This incident highlights the serious legal consequences of cyber harassment and revenge pornography under Nigerian law.
The Abia State Police Command treats such cases with urgency, especially when they involve threats to life and reputation. Onuoha faces potential charges of blackmail, threat to life, and cyber harassment.
