A student of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), identified as Ademola, has alleged that she was assaulted by a soldier during a disturbing invasion of student hostels in Osogbo, Osun State, on Tuesday, 1 July 2026.

Ademola, in a video shared by OsunDefenderNG, recounted the incident with visible distress, claiming that she was alone in her hostel room preparing a meal when soldiers allegedly stormed the area for a second time after an earlier presence had subsided.

The UNIOSUN student soldier assault allegation Osogbo comes amid wider reports of chaos at the university halls of residence, where soldiers from the Army Depot, Osogbo, were said to have invaded student hostels, assaulted students, and allegedly confiscated over 60 mobile phones alongside other electronic gadgets.

According to Ademola, tension escalated when soldiers reportedly returned and began questioning occupants of her room.

She said she complied when asked to open the door, believing the situation would be resolved without harm.

Ademola further alleged that one of the soldiers became physically aggressive after entering the room.

“He pinned me to my bathroom door, told me I would like it. He also told me not to shout. So, I begged him,” she said, visibly emotional during the narration.

She added that another soldier also entered the room shortly after and attempted to restrain her while repeatedly telling her to remain calm.

Ademola said she eventually managed to break free, moved towards the door, and raised an alarm.

“I shouted and screamed. After shouting, they both moved out and I had to use force to close the door,” she added.

She also noted that after the soldiers initially left her room, her hostel mate later came to check on her after hearing the commotion.

She said the roommate tried to calm her down and check what had happened before leaving the scene, highlighting the emotional distress that followed the encounter.

The wider incident has sparked outrage across the university community, with other students alleging that the hostel invasion affected multiple rooms.

Reports also include claims of harassment, confiscation of mobile phones, and distressing encounters involving students during the operation.

In total, students alleged that over 60 mobile phones and other electronic gadgets were taken during the operation, further intensifying anger and calls for accountability.

The situation has since prompted concern from student groups and stakeholders, with growing demands for a transparent investigation and improved protection for students in campus hostels.

In response to the growing outrage, the Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo, confirmed that it had launched an investigation into the alleged misconduct involving some of its personnel following a complaint submitted by the National Association of Nigerian Students, Southwest Zone D.

The Army stated that the investigation would establish the facts and assured that any personnel found culpable would face disciplinary action, as calls for accountability continue to mount from students and stakeholders.
