Liverpool’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen sparks transfer drama as Napoli demand two players plus €20m in rising summer football saga

The Serie A club’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is holding firm on his valuation amid rising interest from Europe’s elite.

According to reports from Italian journalist Valter De Maggio and relayed by Sportskeeda, Liverpool initially offered Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa for Osimhen. However, Napoli are insisting that €20 million must be added to the deal.

While Chiesa is reportedly valued at €14 million and Nunez at €45 million, the addition of €20 million brings the total to €79 million — slightly above Osimhen’s estimated €70 million valuation on Transfermarkt.

The Nigerian striker has enjoyed a remarkable resurgence during his loan spell at Galatasaray, where he netted 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 matches.

His performances fired the Turkish giants to a domestic double. One of his standout moments came in the form of a stunning overhead kick against Antalyaspor, which fans voted as the Super Lig’s Goal of the Season.

Galatasaray are now keen to keep him permanently. However, Osimhen’s future remains uncertain as top Premier League clubs are circling.

Although Chelsea and a number of Saudi clubs approached him last summer, he rejected their proposals, opting instead for the Turkish adventure.

Despite fresh overtures from Al-Hilal, who reportedly prepared an improved €50 million annual salary offer, Osimhen continues to turn down big-money deals from the Middle East.

His stance suggests a strong desire to compete in one of Europe’s top leagues rather than pursue financial reward.

Manchester United have also been linked, with former captain Rio Ferdinand hinting that the forward might be waiting for a call from Old Trafford.

Yet, wage demands appear to be a sticking point, and the Red Devils are reportedly unwilling to reopen negotiations unless Osimhen softens his financial expectations.

Meanwhile, Juventus are ramping up efforts to lure the Nigerian international to Turin. Under their new sporting director Damien Comolli, the Italian side have joined the chase, adding further intrigue to an already competitive summer transfer window.

Liverpool are not placing all their hopes on Osimhen, as they are also exploring other striking options. Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko have been shortlisted, though both would require significant financial outlay.

As the summer unfolds, the Victor Osimhen transfer battle looks set to be one of the defining sagas, drawing attention from clubs, fans and pundits alike.

With Liverpool’s revised proposal now under review, all eyes are on Naples to see if the Nigerian star finally secures the high-profile move he has long awaited.
