Mouka, the leading manufacturer of mattresses, pillows, and other bedding products, has rewarded the best graduating students from all faculties of the prestigious Elizade University, in Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, with cash grants of One Hundred Thousand Naira each, at the sixth and seventh convocation ceremony of the institution, held on Friday, 21 October 2022.

The initiative, Mouka’s Award of Excellence programme, was flagged off in 2020 and is part of the company’s CSR Pillar Skills For Life and is aimed at supporting the students as they step into their next phase of life. In celebration of excellence, Mouka rewards the top students in each faculty and educates them about prioritising quality sleep while striving for distinction academically or professionally.

Through this scheme and other initiatives, the company has continued to raise awareness for the role of quality sleep in academic excellence. In addition, Mouka has crafted affordable sleep solutions such as Comfy and Flora mattresses which are available in bunk-bed and single-bed sizes for students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions to support quality sleep.

For younger children, the award-winning company also designed the Dreamtime mattress, which is covered with a water-resistant yet breathable fabric that prevents fluids from slipping into the product’s core. It also has a soft cover that keeps the child’s body cool and comfortable through the night, so they can wake up refreshed to stay alert at school.

Speaking about the award, Mouka’s Senior Brand Manager, Akeem Audu, said initiatives such as this would encourage students to strive for academic excellence, which has an even greater impact on the country as a whole.

In light of this, the Vice-Chancellor of the Institution, Professor Olukayode Amund, who was excited about Mouka’s goodwill, lauded the company for the cash grants that would help motivate the students and support them in life after school.

The beneficiaries in the 2020/2021 academic session comprise Emecho Tejiri Sophia, a student of the Department of Biological Sciences/Microbiology from the Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences; Johnson Peace Oluwaferanmi, Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Humanities, Social and Management Sciences; Folorunsho Rachael, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering; and Ogundana Mokunfayo Boluwatife, a Law student from the Faculty of Law.

Those In the 2021/2022 academic session in the seventh convocation include Oluwapelumi Oluwagbofemi, a student of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering; Fowode Oluwakanyinsolami, Faculty of Law; Daramola Oluwanifemi, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences; as well as Adegbenro Kosemani, Department of Accounting and Finance, Faculty of Humanities, Social and Management Sciences.
