Brand Communicator, a leading brands and marketing publication, has concluded plans to host the fifth edition of its prestigious annual Women In Marketing and Communications Conference/Awards (WIMCA) on Wednesday, October 27, 2021.

The event is scheduled to hold at the prestigious Shell Hall, Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos at 9 am prompt. The theme for this year’s event is “Women in Leadership: Building a strong Professional PIE (Performance, Image, Exposure)”.

Many analysts opine that WIMCA is one of the foremost thought leadership platforms for insights and contemporary trends in engaging female consumers. Every year the platform honours outstanding women and women-friendly corporate organisations and brands for their outstanding contributions to the growth of the country’s economy, especially in the area of women empowerment.

Usually, the event is divided into two segments that hold the same day; the conference and the awards. The conference has three sections that include- personal branding session, a career development session, and a Marketing to women session. The Awards segment comes at the end of the conference presentations.. It is a free event and interested participants, men and women, can register at http://wimca.ng/register/

The sub-theme for the personal branding session is titled “Creating a personal brand beyond smashing the glass ceiling” while the career development session is themed “Maximising work-life integration in the new norm”. The Marketing to women session has “Engaging female consumers in challenging times” as its sub-theme.

Speaking on the forthcoming event, the convener of WIMCA and Publisher of Brand Communicator, Joshua Ajayi said, “We will be holding a physical event this year, unlike last year when we held a virtual event due to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic across the world.

“This year’s event promises to be one of the biggest and largest gatherings of female professionals and we have lined up international marketing professionals and business leaders to inspire all participants. Over the years, WIMCA has been a platform for marketing and communications discourse and empowerment for women in Nigeria, and this year we have expanded our net to other African countries and beyond the continent with our ray of international speakers who will be unveiled soon.

“Also, we will be honouring some outstanding women who have been able to make impact despite the economic challenges in the country caused by COVID-19 and other factors. They are amazons who deserve to be honoured and celebrated for their contribution to the growth of their respective industries and we believe their stories will inspire others to aspire to be the best they can be.”

WIMCA was a virtual event last year with the theme ““Generation equality; imperatives of gender inclusion for the growth of brands and marketing communications” while the 2019 edition was a physical event held at Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos with the theme “Better the Balance in the Brands and Marketing Communications Industry.”

Interestingly, other objectives of WIMCA include serving as a mentorship platform for young and prospective female professionals to ignite their potential towards attaining enviable heights in marketing and management. Also, it is to inspire the entrepreneurial spirit in women towards creating and sustaining enduring marketing and communications industry businesses.

Expected attendees include chief executives of marketing communications businesses and brands, marketing directors of corporate organisations, senior advertising practitioners and professionals, senior and middle-level female executives in creative, public relations, media planning, digital, and experiential marketing agencies. Participants are also expected from the public sector.

Although men who desire to create multiple impact are invited to come with their spouses and friends, the focus of the event is on women, especially those in the corporate communications and marketing departments of corporate organisations, marketing managers, brand managers, and product managers. Women in industry recognised professional bodies, such as APCON, NIMN, CIM, Members of advertising Industry groups: MIPAN, AAAN, OAAN, PRCAN, ADVAN, EXMAN as well as female students of mass communication, marketing, and allied disciplines are all expected to register and attend this special event.
