Wura returns for season 4

Wura Season 4 set to premiere on Africa Magic, promising emotional closure and deeper character stories after fan feedback

Head writer Jeffrey Musa on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, confirmed in Lagos that Wura Season 4 will premiere on Africa Magic from March 30, as the production team moves to deliver long-awaited closure to unresolved storylines following strong audience reactions to the previous season.

The announcement comes after the third season of the popular telenovela was initially billed as its finale, but left many viewers dissatisfied with how key character arcs were concluded.

Musa explained that the decision to continue the series was influenced by both available source material and audience demand, noting that the show remains an adaptation of the South African series The River, which spans multiple seasons.

According to the writer, Wura Season 4 offers a critical reset, allowing creators to revisit unresolved narratives and provide a more satisfying emotional resolution for viewers who felt short-changed.

Lead actress Scarlet Gomez, who plays the formidable Wura Amoo-Adeleke, revealed that the new season introduces a striking shift in her character’s arc, describing a more vulnerable and layered portrayal.

Scarlet Gomez said the once untouchable character would now confront personal struggles and shifting power dynamics, creating a more human and relatable figure for audiences.

The series, which airs on Africa Magic and streams on Showmax, has grown into one of the platform’s most compelling Nigerian productions, gaining traction across West Africa since its debut in 2023.

Set in the fictional Iperindo community in Osun State, the show explores the complex life of a gold mining executive balancing power, family and ambition, themes that have resonated strongly with viewers.

With its return, producers are betting on a powerful blend of emotional depth and narrative resolution to sustain audience loyalty and reinforce the show’s status as a standout in African television storytelling.
