Nightlife influencer Yhemolee says Seun Kuti provoked the Wizkid feud, criticising him for disrespecting Fela’s legacy online
Nightlife influencer Yhemolee has publicly attributed the online clash between Afrobeat stars Seun Kuti and Wizkid to actions taken by Seun Kuti, saying the Kuti family member provoked unnecessary backlash.

The comments was addressing the heated dispute that erupted after Seun accused Wizkid FC of disrespecting his late father, Fela Kuti.
Yhemolee argued that Wizkid’s predominantly young fanbase had limited knowledge of Fela Kuti and were reacting to comparisons initiated by Seun himself.
He described Wizkid as a generational icon whose music resonates with many Nigerians, while Fela’s legacy is known primarily through history lessons or selective exposure.
“Na Seun Kuti I blame! This fraction of FC you are cursing out don’t even know Fela. They have no single memory of him. Wiz is their GOAT! They can go memory lane with him from Holla at Your Boy till date!” Yhemolee wrote.
The influencer also criticised Seun for engaging with online trolls and issuing public statements over multiple days, which Yhemolee said embarrassed the Kuti family and amplified the feud.
He emphasised the generational divide, noting that many participants in the dispute are teenagers and Gen Z users who were not alive when Fela died 29 years ago.
Yhemolee concluded that Seun’s actions inadvertently disrespected Fela’s legacy online.
“Only you will face FC? Rage baited Wiz till he burst out. I didn’t think a day would come I would read very silly and embarrassing stuff about Fela. Fela died 29 years ago!”
