Yobe False Boko Haram Accusation case emerges after a resident confessed to wrongly implicating a hunter in a dispute-driven allegation

A resident of Mittiri Village in Yobe State, Ibrahim Mittiri, has reportedly confessed to falsely accusing a local hunter of being a member of Boko Haram, in a case that authorities say stemmed from a long-standing personal dispute.

The development was contained in a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, citing security sources familiar with the investigation.

According to the report, the incident began on 24 May when Ibrahim Mittiri allegedly informed another resident, Umar Abdullahi, also known as Gajeri, that the hunter, Aji Ibrahim, had links to the terrorist group Boko Haram.

The allegation was subsequently relayed to troops of Sector 2 under Operation Hadin Kai, leading to the arrest of the hunter for interrogation.

However, preliminary investigations reportedly revealed inconsistencies in the claim, prompting further questioning by security authorities.

During interrogation, Ibrahim Mittiri allegedly admitted that the accusation was false and motivated by a seven-year personal dispute with the hunter, a matter said to still be before a court.

Sources further stated that he expressed intent to have the hunter arrested and subjected to harsh treatment through the false report.

Investigators also reportedly discovered that both Ibrahim Mittiri and Umar Abdullahi were involved in intelligence-related activities within the community and had been receiving monthly stipends for their roles.
