Legendary singer 2Face says his marriage to Annie Idibia felt like “living in bondage” and alleges his life was threatened during their troubled union

[dropcap]2[/dropcap]Face Annie Idibia marriage has taken a dramatic turn, as legendary Nigerian musician Innocent Ujah Idibia, popularly known as 2Face or 2Baba, has revealed troubling details about his time with estranged wife Annie Macaulay.

In a preview of the upcoming episode of the +234 Mzansi Podcast, co-hosted by Nigerian comedians Nedu and Acapella alongside South African media figure Kifilwe, the African Queen hitmaker opened up about his painful experience.

“This thing wey dem call ‘living in bondage’ is real. There were some people who were ready to kill me,” 2Face said, hinting at the mental and physical toll his marital struggles took on him.

The couple, who tied the knot in May 2012, share two daughters—Isabella and Olivia—but have endured years of publicised ups and downs.

The situation reached a climax earlier this year when 2Face announced their separation via a controversial post on his social media platforms on Sunday, 26 January 2025.

Not long after the announcement, he began appearing publicly with Natasha Osawuru, a legislator in the Edo State House of Assembly, sparking widespread speculation about the timing and nature of the new relationship.

While Annie Idibia has yet to respond to the latest claims, the revelations have reignited public interest in the couple’s turbulent relationship, which had long been a topic of online discussion and media scrutiny.

2Face’s reference to “people ready to kill” adds a chilling layer to the narrative and has drawn concern from fans who fear the veteran singer may have endured more than previously imagined.
