The Ghanaian government, through the Ghana Refugee Board, has publicly responded to the Nigerian refugee, David Hundeyin, who recently gained attention with a viral video.

Recall that in the said video, Hundeyin made several accusations against the Nigerian government, its president and some notable personalities in the country while insinuating support from his host country.

The Ghanaian authorities, while downplaying his significance and denying claims of collaboration with the Nigerian government to repatriate him, have conveyed their conviction that Hundeyin holds no substantial importance until the viral video was brought to their attention.

The controversial journalist was offered assurance that there are no plans for his repatriation back to Nigeria.

However, the government took the opportunity to warn Hundeyin against making unfounded accusations against the Nigerian government while residing in Ghana.

Hundeyin has also been advised to reference a document titled “Rights and Obligations of Asylum Seekers,” provided to him at the time of his recognition as a refugee, and to comply with its contents. The statement emphasizes the need for him to adhere to the guidelines of this document during his stay in Ghana.
