San Antonio police apprehended a 19-year-old, Christopher Preciado, and his father, Ramon Preciado, aged 53, on Wednesday night, charging them in connection with the murders of pregnant teen Savanah Soto and her boyfriend Matthew Guerra. The couple was fatally shot in a drug deal gone bad last month.

Soto, 18, and Guerra, 22, were discovered dead on December 26 inside a car parked outside an apartment complex in San Antonio. Tragically, their unborn baby also perished in the incident.

Christopher Preciado faces charges of capital murder, while his father, Ramon Preciado, is charged with abuse of a corpse. Additional charges are pending, according to the police.

During a press briefing, Sergeant Washington Moscoso stated, “It appears to be a narcotics-related deal that went bad.”

Soto went missing on December 22, a day before she was scheduled for labor induction. Concerned family members reported her disappearance when she failed to attend her appointment at Stone Oak Methodist Hospital.

San Antonio police had previously released surveillance footage featuring two persons of interest near the crime scene. The video depicted one suspect driving the victims’ Kia Optima, pulling up to a dark pickup truck driven by the other suspect.

Christopher Preciado is accused of killing the couple, while his father allegedly assisted in moving the bodies to another location after their deaths. The authorities believe the murders occurred around midnight on December 21.

Crucial evidence in the investigation came from Soto’s recovered cell phone. Investigators traced the possible location of the suspects’ vehicle, seen in the surveillance footage, using this information.

Both suspects were apprehended and walked out of the police station in front of local media late Wednesday. The tragic incident underscores the dangers associated with illicit drug activities and the devastating consequences it can have on individuals and their families.
