Oladosu Folorunso Ariyo, a Nigerian lawyer, described a terrifying story of how kidnappers wearing military camouflage abducted his wife and four children in the heart of Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria. The story tragically ended with the death of his 13-year-old daughter as a result of the kidnappers’ failure to provide the N60 million ransom that was demanded.

The disturbing episode unfolded on January 7, 2024, when gunmen invaded Sagwari Layout Estate in the Dutse axis of Abuja, leaving shockwaves and an indelible mark on the Ariyo family.

Desperate for help, Mr. Ariyo reached out to his colleagues through a WhatsApp group, seeking urgent intervention from the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to aid in the release of his kidnapped family members.

Reports indicate that the kidnappers, after seizing the family, demanded a staggering ransom of N60 million. Unfortunately, the family was unable to raise the exorbitant sum, leading to a tragic turn of events. In a cruel twist of fate, the 13-year-old daughter, Michelle, paid the ultimate price for their financial inability.

The lifeless body of Michelle was discovered dumped at Ida, near Ushafa in Bwari Area Council, sending shockwaves through the community and sparking widespread outrage.

In a heart-wrenching plea, Ariyo revealed that the kidnappers are now threatening to take the lives of his remaining three children and wife unless the demanded ransom is promptly paid.

This horrifying incident serves as a stark reminder of the security challenges facing many parts of Nigeria and the devastating impact on innocent lives. The Nigerian Bar Association and relevant authorities are urged to act swiftly to ensure the safe release of the remaining hostages and bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice. The nation mourns with the Ariyo family and calls for collective efforts to address the escalating menace of kidnapping in the country.
