Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has proudly announced the launch of an electronic Geographic Information System (e-GIS) in Lagos State.

The revolutionary e-GIS portal serves as a comprehensive digital platform, ushering in a new era of efficiency, transparency, and accessibility in the land acquisition process.

The e-GIS portal marks a departure from traditional manual paperwork, offering a streamlined and digitized approach to acquiring, documenting, and verifying land in Lagos.

Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the introduction of this groundbreaking system eliminates the need for middlemen, simplifying the application process for land titles.

With the e-GIS portal now live, individuals can access, verify, search, and apply for various land titles, including Governor’s Consent, all from the convenience of their homes with just a few clicks.

This move not only aligns with global trends in digitization but also reinforces the state government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for its residents and investors.

One of the most notable features of the e-GIS system is its capacity to consolidate and organize all archived land records dating back to the 19th century.

By merging historical transactional data with current land titles, the system creates a comprehensive cadastral database covering every parcel of land in the state. This digitized repository ensures that information is readily accessible, significantly reducing bureaucratic hurdles associated with land transactions.

Governor Sanwo-Olu underscored the commitment to improving service delivery to citizens and investors, describing the e-GIS portal as a transformative tool.

The automated process seamlessly integrates land transactions into the Land Registry’s workflow, expediting procedures and enhancing overall efficiency.

As Lagos State embraces the digital age in land documentation, this innovative step is poised to not only simplify the process but also boost confidence among investors and residents, fostering a more transparent and investor-friendly environment.
