The House of Oduduwa, custodian of the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba people, has issued a stern statement disavowing an individual who claims to be the son of Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife.

The controversy arose when an amateur video clip featuring the self-proclaimed son of Ooni Ogunwusi surfaced online, rapidly spreading across various digital platforms.

In response, the House of Oduduwa has categorically denounced the individual’s claims, asserting that he is unknown to the palace and the community of Ile-Ife.

In a release made available to Freelanews and signed by the Ooni’s Director for Media & Public Affairs, Otunba Moses Olafare, the palace vehemently condemns the purported act of impersonation and emphasizes its commitment to upholding the integrity of the royal family.

According Otunba Olafare, the Ooni of Ife acknowledges and takes full responsibility for all his children, both within Nigeria and abroad.

The palace further clarified that the eldest child of the Ooni is Princess Adeola Ogunwusi, followed by Princess Adewamiwa Ogunwusi, Princess Adesewa, Prince Tadenikawo Ogunwusi, and the newborn twins Prince Adebisi Kehinde and Princess Taiwo Adeayo.

The self-proclaimed prince’s actions are condemned as not only sacrilegious but also criminal.

The palace emphasizes the seriousness of impersonating a member of the royal family, calling for thorough investigation and swift justice by law enforcement agencies.

In a bid to apprehend the perpetrator, the House of Oduduwa urges cooperation from the public and implores individuals with relevant information to come forward.

The palace assures whistleblowers that their identities will be protected and encourages them to assist in ensuring that justice is served.

Additionally, the House of Oduduwa calls upon all individuals to refrain from engaging in or promoting deceptive practices that tarnish the dignity and honor of the royal family.

Upholding the sanctity of cultural heritage is deemed paramount by the palace, which vows to preserve the esteemed legacy of the Yoruba people.
