[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he chairman of Emure Ekiti Good Governance Advocacy Group, Ademola Abegunde, has raised concerns over the alleged illegal disposal of a valuable Emure Local Government property by the current Executive Chairman, Hon Tosin Adedayo.

The disputed property is a four-bedroom duplex named BM3, located at Irewolede Estate, Ilawe Road, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

This asset, acquired in 2008 for ₦12.5 million during the tenure of then-chairman Hon Peter Ogundoro, has been a significant part of the community’s heritage.

The property, purchased in 2008 for the benefit of the Emure community, was sold without proper authorisation, transparency, or due process.

Hon Tosin Adedayo allegedly conducted the sale to a long-time political ally at a heavily reduced price, causing substantial financial loss to the community.

There was no advertisement or public notification of the sale, which was reportedly executed behind closed doors within two months of Adedayo’s administration, allegedly as a gift to his political godfather.

Further investigations revealed that the chairman claimed the property was sold for ₦8,500,000.00, despite a plot of land in the same estate costing over ₦40,000,000.00.

However, it was found that the property was actually sold for ₦85,000,000.00.

The first payment of ₦48,000,000.00 was transferred to Hon Tosin Adedayo through an account provided by the Head of Local Government Administration (HLA), Mr Bola Babalola, with the remaining ₦36,000,000.00 also paid to the same account.

Ademola Abegunde and the Emure Ekiti Good Governance Advocacy Group have requested the President of the Emure Ekiti Progressive Association and the executive council members to investigate the illegal sale and take appropriate steps to recover the Emure Local Government property.

They also demand the sale be declared null and void, and the property recovered from the buyer. Additionally, they urge the implementation of measures to prevent future unauthorised sales of council assets.
