The Lagos State House of Assembly passed the resolution for Sulaimon’s indefinite suspension, citing various allegations, and instructed Johnson to take over immediately.

The official letter of appointment, dated 8th October 2024, was signed by Kikelomo Bolarinwa, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development.

The letter referenced the House’s resolution, which called for Sulaimon’s suspension under Section 24 of the Local Government Administration Law.

In response, four councillors of the Alimosho Local Government – Mojisola Fabusuyi Ayeni, Saheed Adejoke, Rasheed Semiu, and Elizabeth Fashina – dissociated themselves from the suspension of Johnson, condemning it as illegal and staged.

They reaffirmed their support for Johnson and commended the Assembly for stepping in to address the mismanagement in the council.

The Lagos Assembly has mandated the local government manager and treasurer to fully support Johnson in his new role, ensuring a smooth transition and continuation of governance.

The legislators further urged stakeholders and residents to remain calm, stressing the importance of peaceful engagement in the ongoing leadership transition.
