Burna Boy sets a new record as the Nigerian artist with the most Billboard Hot 100 entries, solidifying his global dominance in music.

[dropcap]N[/dropcap]igerian megastar Burna Boy continues to elevate his global music career, reaching yet another milestone. The Port Harcourt-born artist, famed for his breakout hit ‘YE’, now holds the record for the most entries by a Nigerian musician on the prestigious Billboard Hot 100 chart.

This new achievement comes following his latest appearance on Coldplay’s track ‘We Pray’, which also features British rapper Little Simz.

The song debuted at No. 87 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week of 19 October 2024, marking Burna Boy’s sixth entry on the chart.

His highest-charting single remains the international hit ‘Last Last’, which peaked at No. 44 and spent an impressive 19 weeks on the chart.

Burna Boy’s rise to the top of the Billboard charts reflects his influence on the global music scene and cements his status as a leading figure in Afrobeats, a genre steadily gaining international recognition.

Trailing behind him is Grammy Award-winning singer Tems, who boasts five Billboard entries. Tems made history as the first Nigerian artist to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with her collaboration on Future’s ‘Wait For U’.

Wizkid follows closely in third place with four entries, including his historic No. 1 hit for his feature on Drake’s ‘One Dance’, which made him the first Afrobeats artist to top the chart.

Several other Nigerian artists have also made significant appearances on the Billboard Hot 100. Rema’s hit song ‘Calm Down’, featuring Selena Gomez, holds the record for the highest-charting Afrobeats single, peaking at No. 3.

CKay’s viral sensation ‘Love Nwantiti’ reached No. 26, while Fireboy’s ‘Peru’ remix, featuring Ed Sheeran, peaked at No. 54. Davido and Lojay both made their chart debut with their feature on Chris Brown’s ‘Sensational’, which peaked at No. 94.

Burna Boy’s latest accolade further highlights the global expansion of Nigerian music, particularly Afrobeats, as it continues to captivate listeners worldwide.

As more Nigerian artists break into the Billboard Hot 100, it is clear that the country’s musical influence is only set to grow.
