Victor Osimhen’s stunning overhead kick for Galatasaray reached 2.32m, nearly breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s record, and has sparked Puskás Award talks.

[dropcap]S[/dropcap]uper Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen came remarkably close to breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic overhead kick record with a sensational goal in his team’s 3-0 victory over Antalyaspor on Saturday.

The 25-year-old forward, currently on loan from Napoli, made a dramatic return from injury, coming off the bench in the 78th minute to replace Mauro Icardi.

In the 92nd minute, Osimhen delivered a remarkable overhead kick to score the third goal, a strike already being hailed as one of the greatest in the Turkish Super Lig this season.

Osimhen’s goal, which is being tipped for the prestigious Ferenc Puskás Award, is noteworthy not only for its brilliance but for nearly surpassing a unique record.

According to Turkish media outlet NTV, the overhead kick reached an extraordinary height of 2.32 metres, making it the second-highest goal of its kind in football history.

The only player to top this achievement is Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored an overhead kick from a height of 2.38 metres during Real Madrid’s 2017/18 UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash against Juventus.

This remarkable feat from Osimhen, following his recovery from a thigh injury, comes as a significant boost to Galatasaray, who extended their lead in the Turkish Super Lig with the win.

His goal adds to the excitement surrounding his return and the team’s ambitions this season.

The football world continues to marvel at Osimhen’s extraordinary athleticism and skill, with many already considering his wondergoal a contender for the best goal of the year.
