The 67th Grammy Awards sees Nigerian artists dominate the Best African Music Performance category, with Chris Brown’s collaboration featuring Davido and Lojay.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Recording Academy has unveiled the nominees for the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, and Nigerian music stars are making a strong impact across several categories.

One of the most notable recognitions this year is the Best African Music Performance category, which is completely dominated by Nigerian talent, alongside an international collaboration featuring two Nigerian artists.

In an exciting turn, the Best African Music Performance category for the 67th Grammys features Nigerian stars Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tems, and the international hit ‘Sensational’ by Chris Brown, which includes Nigerian artists Davido and Lojay.

This marks a historic moment as the category is almost entirely occupied by Nigerian artists, a testament to the growing influence of Afrobeat and African music on the global stage.

The full list of nominees in the Best African Music Performance category includes:

1- ‘Tomorrow’ by Yemi Alade
2- ‘MMS’ by Asake featuring Wizkid
3- ‘Sensational’ by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay
4- ‘Higher’ by Burna Boy
5- ‘Love Me JeJe’ by Tems

The previous year saw South African singer Tyla win the inaugural award in this category with her track ‘Water’, a significant achievement for African artists at the Grammys.

However, this year, Nigerian artists are poised to take centre stage in this category, further solidifying their position as global music powerhouses.

In addition to the Best African Music Performance nominations, Nigerian singers Rema and Tems are also up for honours in the Best Global Music Album category.

Rema’s second album HEIS and Tems’ debut album Born in the Wild are among the nominees, alongside Matt B and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s Alkebulan II, Ciro Hurtado’s Paisajes, and Antonio Rey’s Historias De Un Flamenco.

This marks another major achievement for Nigerian music as both artists continue to receive recognition for their unique sound and global reach.

Tems, already a rising star on the international scene, has earned yet another nomination in the Best R&B Song category for her collaboration with Ronald Banful on ‘Burning’.

This makes Tems one of the most celebrated Nigerian artists at the 67th Grammys.

Additionally, global superstar Beyoncé has made headlines by securing 11 nominations for the upcoming ceremony, breaking a tie to become the most nominated artist in Grammy history.

With her vast influence across genres, she remains one of the most anticipated nominees of the year.

The 67th Annual Grammy Awards will take place in February, and the nominees are already stirring excitement in the music industry.

As the ceremony draws near, fans around the world will be eagerly awaiting to see which of their favourite artists will take home the prestigious Grammy trophies.
