The Lagos State Government has urged consumers to report online sellers who deliver goods that differ from what they ordered, as part of efforts to tackle unfair business practices and protect consumer rights.
The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) issued the advice in a consumer awareness message on Monday, October 26, 2026, encouraging residents to speak up when products purchased online fail to match the descriptions or quality promised by vendors.

The agency said consumers should not remain silent when they receive goods that are different from their orders or do not meet the expected standards.
“Goods or products you order online should be delivered as promised.
“If the items delivered do not match their descriptions, are different from what you ordered, or fail to meet the expected quality, do not keep silent!” LASCOPA stated in a post on X.
The agency encouraged affected customers to take action against vendors who fail to fulfil their obligations, stressing the importance of reporting unfair practices.
“Speak up and take action,” it advised.
LASCOPA urged consumers who experience such problems to register formal complaints with the agency for attention.
“Register your complaint with the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) against unfair business practices,” the statement added.
The agency provided a toll-free helpline, 080 0005 2726, and an email address, lasgcopa@gmail.com, for residents seeking to report complaints.
Consumers experiencing problems with online purchases can help support their complaints by keeping order confirmations, payment receipts, product listings, screenshots of conversations with sellers and photographs of the items delivered.
Such records can help demonstrate the difference between what was advertised or ordered and what the customer received.
