Pep Guardiola contract extension

Pep Guardiola reveals he planned to leave Manchester City but decided to stay after recent challenges, signing a two-year contract extension.

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]ep Guardiola has surprised many by signing a two-year contract extension with Manchester City, despite initially planning to step down after this season.

The 53-year-old manager revealed on Thursday that he had considered making this campaign his last at the helm of the Premier League champions. However, after a series of four consecutive defeats, Guardiola felt compelled to remain in charge.

The extension will now keep Guardiola at City for over a decade, solidifying his position as one of the club’s most successful and influential managers.

Speaking about his decision, Guardiola admitted that he had been contemplating his future throughout the season. “Since the beginning of the season I’ve been thinking a lot. I thought that (this season) should be the last one,” he said.

However, Guardiola explained that the challenges City faced in recent weeks, particularly during a difficult run of form, led him to reconsider his decision.

“With the problems we had in the last month, I felt that now is not the time to leave. I would have let the club down,” he said.

The new contract signals Guardiola’s ongoing commitment to Manchester City, as he looks to continue the club’s success and guide them through a critical period.

Under his leadership, City has become a dominant force in English football, with Guardiola consistently pushing for further success on both domestic and European fronts.
