TikToker Sea King was arrested not for insulting President Tinubu or Governor Sanwo-Olu, but for inciting violence against the police by urging Nigerians to assault officers during arrests

Contrary to reports circulating online, the arrest of TikToker Sea King was not due to insults directed at President Tinubu or Governor Sanwo-Olu.

Initial reports suggested that Sea King was apprehended by security agents following a video where he allegedly hurled insults at the President, the Lagos State Governor, and the Inspector-General of Police.

However, further investigation revealed that the primary reason for his arrest was the incitement of violence against police officers.

A popular blog reported that on Saturday, December 20, Sea King released a video on social media where he expressed his anger at a news report stating that the police would soon begin arresting individuals who insult government officials.

In this video, he allegedly used expletives to criticize President Tinubu, Governor Sanwo-Olu, and the police chief.

However, it was Sea King’s subsequent actions that led to his arrest.

He took to his TikTok handle and urged Nigerian youths to physically assault and stone police officers during arrests.

This incitement to violence against law enforcement officials is the primary reason for his detainment.

A video circulating on social media shows Sea King appearing somber as he is being interrogated by security agents.
