Man of the Year: The Everyday Nigerian

In a year marked by economic hardships, insecurity, and rising costs, the Man of the Year represents every Nigerian who persevered.

Enduring the realities of 2024, including high fuel prices and food costs, this figure embodies resilience and hope. Despite daunting challenges, the everyday Nigerian has navigated life with courage and determination.

This recognition celebrates their unwavering spirit and belief in a brighter future, symbolising the collective strength of a nation.

Young Person of the Year: Stella Erhuwuoghene Okotete

Stella Okotete, Executive Director of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), has emerged as a beacon of progress.

Through initiatives like the Women and Youth Export Development Facility and the Nigerian Export-Import Bank Academy, Okotete fosters financial inclusion and export-import education.

Her extensive academic background, which includes certifications from Harvard and Oxford, complements her impactful public service roles, such as advancing sustainable development goals in Delta State.

As co-founder of the E’Girls Foundation, she champions women’s empowerment and youth development, making her a transformative force in Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.

Company of the Year: Dangote Refinery

The Dangote Refinery, a monumental project located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos, stands as a game-changer for Nigeria’s oil industry.

With the capacity to process 650,000 barrels of crude oil daily, it has revolutionised energy production and created 135,000 permanent jobs.

Its advanced infrastructure, including the world’s largest sub-sea pipeline network and a 435MW power plant, ensures self-sufficiency in oil production.

Beginning operations in January 2024, the refinery promises economic growth and stability, positioning Nigeria as a key player in the global energy market.

Public Servant of the Year: Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Nigeria’s Minister of Interior, has spearheaded impactful reforms in justice, security, and disaster management.

His advocacy for prison reform enhances inmate rehabilitation and living conditions, while his efforts in immigration reform modernise border management.

By prioritising community policing and intelligence-driven law enforcement, Tunji-Ojo has bolstered internal security.

His commitment to disaster preparedness ensures a more resilient Nigeria. These strides underscore his dedication to transforming governance and public service in the nation.

A Future Shaped by Excellence

The stories of these leaders and organisations serve as a testament to Nigeria’s resilience and innovation.

Whether through groundbreaking achievements or unwavering determination, they remind us that progress is achievable, even in the face of adversity.

These honours are not just awards; they are a celebration of hope, strength, and the collective will to build a brighter Nigeria.
